hanging JBoss 3.0.4

we are running JBoss 3.0.4 against a Oracle 9.2 DB.
After a while (say 2 days ) it is not possible to connect to the JBoss server. we increased the connection pool max size for the Oracle datasource to 2000 but same again after a while JBoss is not accepting new connections without any error messages.
latest JDBC driver and latest Oracle patches are in use.

Are you using OCI on linux?

I've heard of this behaviour. The JVM becomes unresponsive
usually after a period of inactivity.
Switching to Thin solves the problem.

No Linux, we are using w2k and the latest version of the thin Oracle JDBC driver
