1. Re: JBoss-2.4.2 & Tomcat-4.0 Released
pohl Oct 1, 2001 10:20 PM (in response to nuanda)Yes, thank you to those who worked on putting this together! Tomcat 4 is noticably faster.
Is this really a final release? I noticed that the JSP Examples, Servlet Examples, and tomcat documentation were all omitted -- they return 404. Was this on purpose? -

3. Re: JBoss-2.4.2 & Tomcat-4.0 Released
plightbo Oct 2, 2001 4:52 PM (in response to nuanda)I downloaded this from SF yesterday, but I'm unable to get Catalina to use a port other than 8080 (yes, I've changed server.xml). When I run catalina by itself, it runs on the port I chose (80), and all the JSP examples work. However, when I run 'run_with_catalina', it insists on starting as port 8080 and none of the JSPs or any other links from the main Tomcat page work anymore. I think maybe this first release is slightly screwy? Anyone else have this problem?

4. Re: JBoss-2.4.2 & Tomcat-4.0 Released
wondergeek Oct 2, 2001 10:42 PM (in response to nuanda)this is related to the fact that jboss dosen't use the server.xml file to boot up tomcat. therefore changing the config there won't work.
see related issue http://www.jboss.org/modules/bb/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&t=forums/ the release notes for jboss 2.4.2 & tomcat 4.0 say that you can configure the mbean that starts tomcat. you should be able to change the port attribute in the jboss.jcml.

6. Re: JBoss-2.4.2 & Tomcat-4.0 Released
pohl Oct 4, 2001 4:31 PM (in response to nuanda)I've got two questions about the subproject making this bundle:
1) Why is the tomcat directory called "catalina"? I realize that this was the pet-name for tomcat 4, but I think it is inviting confusion to not name the
containing directory "tomcat". Same goes for the run_with_catalina.sh script.
2) None of the jsp or servlet examples for tomcat 4 work. The links on http://localhost:8080/ return 404. Is this a known issue?
Is there a better forum for me to raise these questions in? -
7. catalina examples found
pohl Oct 4, 2001 5:11 PM (in response to nuanda)I found the tomcat examples in the catalina/webapps/examples directory. I made an "examples.war" archive out of it and dropped it into the jboss/deploy directory.
The deployer noticed this, and I'm now browsing the examples. I feel bad for not noticing this earlier. -
8. Re: JBoss-2.4.2 & Tomcat-4.0 Released
starksm64 Oct 4, 2001 9:43 PM (in response to nuanda)tomcat is the config name used for the 3.2.3 version which is still a supported bundle. It would more confusing to have two tomcat's that were completely different contents. With the current names you could combine both versions of tomcat into the same parent directory structure.

9. Re: catalina examples found
hongwen Oct 11, 2001 1:35 PM (in response to nuanda)Do you think this is the right behavior though?
I thought that j2ee suggests that:
client-->web container-->ejb container
Hence the web apps should be in the web container. Is there a way to get the webapp dir of the catalina working with the integration? -

12. Re: catalina examples found
sog1 Apr 16, 2002 7:36 PM (in response to nuanda)For example, on win2k jboss-tomcat installation, in a DOS window go to directory "c:\JBoss-2.4.4_Tomcat-4.0.1\catalina\webapps\examples>"
at the prompt type as follows:
"jar cf examples.war *"
then copy the examples.war file to the "c:\JBoss-2.4.4_Tomcat-4.0.1\jboss\deploy" directory.
Then access the tomcat jsp examples using this url:
http://localhost:8080/examples/jsp/index.html
