mulicheng Apr 18, 2002 1:40 PM (in response to craigday)What do you mean they don't work? Do you mean basic functionality or clustering?
They work fine for me. You need to make sure that the config file enables cookies though. I have them working with 3.0 RC1. Never tried 2.4.5. I haven't got them to cluster, but the do work once I enabled cookies. -
3. Re: HTTP Sessions dont work in 2.4.5 with tomcat4.0.3
craigday Apr 18, 2002 7:29 PM (in response to craigday)out of the box, with no config changes at all, basic HTTP Session funcitonality does not work. ive never seen a jboss or tomcat option to turn cookies on, surely thats a browser thing. 3.0RC1 works, but then 3.0 uses jetty.

craigday Apr 19, 2002 8:41 PM (in response to craigday)help received from Scott Stark in cross-posting: thanks Scott!
This is because cookies are set to false in the DefaultContext config and
the examples are not encoding the urls to perform url rewriting. Change
the DefaultContext line in the jboss/conf/catalina/jboss.jcml file to the
following and sessions work fine: -
6. Re: HTTP Sessions dont work in 2.4.5 with tomcat4.0.3
yaorong Jan 7, 2003 9:47 PM (in response to craigday)My server is jboss-3.0.3_tomcat-4.1.12.
In test1.jsp, I write <% request.getSession().setAttribute("aaa","1111111111111111");%>
In test2.jsp, I write <%=request.getSession().getAttribute("aaa")%>.
First, I execute http://127.0.0.1:8080/test1.jsp, then I visit http://127.0.0.1:8080/test2.jsp, everything is OK. The screen displays 1111111111111111, but I visit http://localhost:8080/test2.jsp, null appears in the screen.
And I find session often losses, it's a nightmare! I check session-timeout(30 minutes) in web.xml and cookies(true) in tomcat41-service.xml, can't find any hints.
Could you please give me help? If the version is not stable, I will revert the lower version. -

9. Re: HTTP Sessions dont work in 2.4.5 with tomcat4.0.3
softator Jan 15, 2003 12:22 PM (in response to craigday)Hi,
we have the same problem and we have noticed that when the client is a Win XP, the session is not maintained. We run the test in several PC's. In three of them (with Win 2000) it worked but in the remaining two it didn't (with Win XP).
We have tried using both Netscape 7.0 and IExplorer 6.0 and the problem is the same, the Session ID cookie is set on the browser, but some why is not propagated in the request.
We also tried with both JBoss 3.0.3 + Tomcat 4.1.12 and JBoss 3.0.4 + Tomcat 4.1.12. Win XP also has Service Pack 1 installed.
Any clue ?
Thanks !
