mfk786 Oct 20, 2003 9:39 AM (in response to hb_butalia)Thanks for the information.
In login.jsp it gives action="logon.do" for the form. Doesn't it require "j_security_check".
Is this a working example?
Thanks again. -

robin2 Oct 22, 2003 2:34 PM (in response to hb_butalia)yes - i too would like to know if this is a working tutorial. it's seems so close but yet - not quite. i am totally new to JAAS ... where/what is the "action class" ... is this what "logon.do" is supposed to be referencing - the "action class"? and would it be possible to see an actual, compile-able example of this "action class"? much thanks...

sverker Oct 29, 2003 3:47 PM (in response to hb_butalia)It should work, in section 8 there is a fragment of code that should be put in your login action class.

montia Nov 4, 2003 4:09 PM (in response to hb_butalia)Hi,
Is there an example of this configuration that does not use struts? I'd like to use a servlet since I'm not familiar with struts. I'm guessing that things should be quite similar? :)
I'll try replacing the *.do references and logon.do, logoff.do in such a way that I can use a LoginServlet.
Since I'm completely new to this, any suggestions are more than welcome.
Thank you,

montia Nov 5, 2003 5:46 PM (in response to hb_butalia)Hi,
I think I got it: just changed the action of the form to call a servlet (passing the values of the username and password textboxes as parameters) and modified *.do and logon.do, logoff.do occurrences appropriately.
I'll try to post a more detailed description in the near future.
hb_butalia, thanks for your summary. It really helped.

montia Nov 7, 2003 1:38 PM (in response to hb_butalia)This is a great link on how to do form-based authentication using a login servlet filter:
http://www.luminis.nl/publications/websecurity.html
It comes with source code and you can build a .war file and test it.
Very helpful. :)
