    RHQ/JON/Jopr JIRA

    jpviragine

Where to put RHQ/JON/Jopr bugs and feature request as RHQ's JIRA is closed to public access? And Jopr's JIRA
      has only plugins as components?

      Cheers,
      JP

RHQ JIRA is not a closed project (at least, it shouldn't be - it isn't that i am aware of).

You should be able to create a user account and log JIRA issues there - its a self-registration process:

          http://jira.rhq-project.org/secure/Signup!default.jspa

If you get an error trying to create an account, let us know.

BTW: here's a page that talks about the distinction between RHQ, Jopr, JON

          https://docs.jbosson.redhat.com/confluence/display/JON2/08.+FAQ#08.FAQ-WhatisthedifferencebetweenJON%2CRHQandJopr%3F

RHQ is the core upstream project - most issues probably get logged there. Jopr JIRA is for issues pertaining to the Jopr plugins (Jopr is really a project with a bunch of plugins). JON is the commercial product offered by RedHat - it does not have an open bug tracking system - but if you have JON and want to report something on it - you would do so through your official RedHat customer support mechanism (which you will have access to if you have JON).

Sorry - that link to the FAQ is here - url tags got screwed up in that last post:

              Hi Mazz,

Thanks a lot for your response.

I just created my account but I can't open tickets (that's because a said that Jira is closed!)

              From RHQ JIRA:

"This tool is used by the developers to manage the open issues and enhancements for RHQ project development. Currently, only members of the development team are authorized to open tickets. All other discussions should be directed to the RHQ forums at RHQ-project forums."

              Ty,
              JP

I was not aware of that. Seems strange that it allows some to self-register an account but not create issues. I'll ask around to see if that was done on purpose (I suspect it was done to avoid people posting bugs on JIRA when it would be more appropriate to post a question on the forums).

In the meantime, feel free to ask your question/issue here on this forum for discussion.

I just checked the permissions on the JIRA and it looks configured properly for all JIRA users to be able to create issues.

The Project Role "Users" is on the Create Issues permission. Looks like it should work.

Are you sure you were logged into JIRA with your new user account before you tried to create the issue?

I was logged but didn't try to create the issue because of the text: "only members of the development team are authorized to open tickets."

Now I can create the issues.
