Development status of Monitoring tool

Hello

I am looking for a monitoring tool for monitoring deployed applications in jboss and gathering system metrics such as active connections in the database connection pool.

I saw such a monitoring tool mentioned in the Jboss2.4 documentation on sourceforge. Is it referring to jmx/web-console or a more advanced tool? If it is a next generation monitoring tool, does anyone know of its current development status?

Here is the exact quote from the Administration section of the Jboss2.4 doc

"A program is currently being developed in the "admin" CVS module to monitor JBoss, gather metrics values. It is still in BETA version. To be continued..."

The admin module has been discontinued. There's a web-console in 3.2.2

The JRocket JVM has an MBean that desplays some metrics with cool
graphics. I, however, could not get JBoss 3.2.2 to run with JRockit 8.

Has anyone gotten it to run?
