When deploying an EAR containing executable files (C programs) their executable bit gets cleared (on Solaris), i.e. is not there in the extracted files below tmp.
When extracting them with jar, the executable bit is there.
I'd expect, that is a feature, not a bug.
Is there any reference (in J2EE spec or whereever)?
