Is cache-invalidation-service.xml necessary for EJB3?

Do I need cache-invalidation-service.xml (org.jboss.cache.invalidation.InvalidationManager) if I'm EJB3-only? It looks like a dependency for CMP2 but the documentation is ambiguous.

It's for EJB2 entity beans and is not needed if you are only using EJB3.
