3.0 Production Version

Why is the Gate-in portal version started from 3.0? Is there any reason?
What is the planned release date for 3.0GA?

It's the next (and major) iteration after eXo Portal 2.5 and JBoss Portal 2.7 so 3.0 sounded correct. Most pieces of the projects are mature components.

The GA release date hasn't been written in stone yet (should be decided within a week), but we will let you know. I expect it to be sometime in December.

What does it mean for JBoss Portal (Enterprise) clients? Will the next version be called:
- 2.8 ?
- 3.0 ?
- 5.0 (as sibling or part of JBoss Enterprise Application stack 5.0)

There is no JBoss Portal Clients, only Enterprise Portal Platform clients.

The current EPP is 4.3 as it embeds EAP 4.3 and a sanitized version of JBoss Portal 2.7

Next one will be EPP 5.0 as it will embed EAP 5.0 and a sanitized version of Gatein 3.0

So I guess EPP 5.0 will arrive beginning of next year and we will wait for this to arrive before we definitely start our Portal project...
