How many users can jboss service at the same time?

    leondu

We have a Server: Intel XEON 2.8G 1G memory, while 30-40 users login our system, it begins to be very slow. Based on the hardwares I just metioned, how many user can we support?

This question is not answerable. It depends on what you are doing. The jboss web site easily supported more than 1000 users on a similar configuration.

            I have very similar query.

I am using PIV 3 GHz with 2GB RAM on Windows 2000 SP4/XP SP2 machine with jboss 4.x installed.

Client/s can send http post messages at a very high rate, say 500 requests/minute. If that is text message (say 100 characters) which is saved in inbuild HSQL database table.

Can JBoss/HSQL handle this? Do i need to make any specific configuration changes for this setup in Jboss?

            Thanks

Scott, this is related to another post I have in these forums called "Expected Concurrent Users on JBoss... Really..."

You said the "The jboss web site easily supported more than 1000 users on a similar configuration. "

Are these concurrent users? And you said "easily", do you have a number better than 1000 that you think you could state where you would receive no timeouts or errors?

Also, can you tell us a little bit about the JBoss deployment & config?

              Thanks!
              Mark

Hmmm... No response in over a week.

If people can say they can handle 1000s of concurrent users, why can't they talk more about the hardware and configuration they are using.

Why are people so reluctant to speak about this... you would think they would brag about it.

That's not the first time this question was answered. Google is your friend!

Anyway, we have made tests and we have used several concurrent users. The answer will depend in your application.

1.) "That's not the first time this question was answered" Yes, I agree. But still never answered.
2.) "Google is our friend", but finding informaton on Google on this very subject is not easy and never from the source - JBoss.
3.) "we have made tests and we have used several concurrent users" YES! Now this is what I am talking about. How many is "several"? And how complex was the app/test? Which J2EE technologies were tested?
4.) "The answer will depend in your application." Exactly. So tell us about your (JBoss) applications and how you tested it and what the results were.

Again, I restate, it is completely obvious so far in all of the posts that I have read on this subject that JBoss does not want to reveal what kinds of performance it receives from its Application Server.

For companies like mine, it would be great to judge the performance of our own JBoss applications by looking at the performance measurements taken by JBoss engineers. Nobody in this world knows how well JBoss performs better than JBoss. Share your numbers please.

Toyota, General Motors, Ford and BMW all build cars that are different from top to bottom. But they all publish performance numbers that the others try to meet or beat.
