I have seen it already. but I cannot find branch for 3.1 on:

The sub-task (correcting z-index) is fixed in trunk. I.e. it is already available in the snapshot and will be part of 3.0.1
RF-103 will not be fixed until 3.0.1 is released.

so this bug will not be taken care of for the next release but rather only for the one after it? so even in the next release I will not be able to use suggestion box in a modalPanel?

You just need to define z-index for suggestionBox explicitly. Is it a problem for you?

I have set the z-index of the suggestionbox to 4000, using the popupStyle att "z-index: 4000", but it works only for firefox. IE remains the same behavior, the suggestion list shows below the modal panel.

Any idea?
