2. Re: Jboss 3.0.0 Documentation
rwrjr Jul 2, 2002 5:28 PM (in response to javaguy)Is there anything better than the Quick Start Guide for JBoss/J2EE newbies? Maybe I'm a bit slow, but the guide seems like it would be much more helpful to people who already have a JBoss (earlier release) background.
3.0 is my first install of JBoss and I'm starting my first J2EE project. I have done quite a bit of servlet development under a old version of JRun.
So far I've managed to install Ant, Xdoclet, and JBoss. I've downloaded the template (fixed the bug) and built and deployeed the project but I really don't know what the heck I just built and deployed.
Anybody have some good, but simple, example projects?
Thanks,
Ron -

crackers Jul 3, 2002 1:58 PM (in response to javaguy)Get the J2EE SKD/tutorial from Sun and use those. You'll have to modify the deployment descriptor files a bit, but the freely available documentation should be sufficient to get you pointed in the right direction.

marc.fleury Jul 4, 2002 10:45 AM (in response to javaguy)Guys sorry,
there IS free documentation in CVS (the getting started) book and it is quite complete. We are about to release it but Andy who was in charge just got a baby 2 days ago. We might release the ALPHA of the documentation, it is incomplete. But I realize it is more important we do this, sorry about the rocky start.
BTW 80% of the current documentation (for pay) applies to the 3.0 release so you can start there,

I don't know what you mean by the CVS documentation. I'd like to be able to know if the product meets my needs before I buy a documentation subscription, but the Quick Start Guide is above my head. Any suggestions???

8. Re: Jboss 3.0.0 Documentation
ckjboss Oct 2, 2002 2:23 PM (in response to javaguy)Thanks. That's where I was going to go next, but I thought there might be some better learner documentation within JBoss so that I could learn J2EE better while using JBoss examples. I've read the J2EE CodeNotes.

juha Oct 2, 2002 4:41 PM (in response to javaguy)if you get RMH's EJB book you can use the JBoss work book with it (written by bill and sacha)
