Problem with start JBOSS 3.2.6 with Java 1.3.1_08

I need to run jboss 3.2.6 with java 1.3. But when i execute r.bat next axception is thrown:
java.lang.NoSuchMethodError
at org.jboss.Main.boot(Main.java:98)
at org.jboss.Main$1.run(Main.java:399)
at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:479)

Where is the problem?

Yes it looks that version 3.2.6 vas compiled under java 1.4. If i understand only solution is that i have to compile it under 1.3? Or is somewhere here version already compiled under 1.3?

You need to use 3.2.7 to run under jdk 1.3. Try the current release candidate, 3.2.7RC1.

But in dowload section is written: "JBoss 3.2.X and earlier will run on 1.3+ JVMs. "

Why it is compiled under 1.4?

Where can i download 3.2.7RC1 (compiled with Java 1.3) ?

In version 3.2.7RC1 in manifest aj found this part:
Manifest-Version: 1.0
Specification-Title: JBoss
Created-By: 1.4.2_05-b04 (Sun Microsystems Inc.)
Specification-Version: 3.2.7

It is again compiled with java 1.4.
Where can I find version which will work under 1.3.1?

distributions of jboss are built with later versions of the jdk as youve already discovered. the below quote is from the page mentioned by darran which states you should build it youself.

To workaround these possible bytecode incompatibilities you will have to rebuild the server from a source checkout using JDK 1.3.x.
