System.out messages should go std_out.log and error messages

in the oc4j server run.bat file if i specify like this

-out log\std_out.log -err log\std_err.log

System.out messages will go std_out.log and error messages will go into the std_err.log

Is this possible in jboss-4.0.3

Its not a function we support using these type of options. You would have to look at configuring this via the conf/log4j.xml console appender configuration. There is a feature request to support the stderr/stdout redirection more directly:
