Seam Deployment Error

I have been playing around with the booking demo example to try to get familiar with Seam. I've obviously now done something terminally stupid as it fails to deploy. The log message from the server doesn't give me much to go on other than it is in the war file. Can anyone give me some pointers as to what might be a possible cause?

I'm using jboss-seam-1.2.1.GA, jboss-4.0.5.GA making changes in Eclipse 3.2.2 and deploying through the ant build.xml file. This seems to be the relevant part of the log.

I think the part of the log file isn't the source of the problem. scroll up some lines to get the real exception that causes the deployment to fail. maybe, some libraries are missing.

This is actually the first exception that gets reported. There are several others following it either similar or complaining that they are related to this one.

I have done some experimentation but trial and error and have located the problem to an Action/Session Bean class. If I delete it from the build the project deploys, if I include it then it doesn't. It always gives this exception which doesn't seem to be very helpful. All the code compiles OK. I shall keep plugging away.
The most frustrating thing is that there don't seem to be any tools or hints as to what is going wrong.

OK, I've cracked what the cause is. Perhaps someone who understands the annotations could now explain why it happens:

It goes wrong if the code has @Stateful commented out (or I use @Stateless instead):

but, not if I don't comment out the @Stateful

It seems to be associated with the presence of the @Destroy and @Remove tags. If these are present and the bean is not @Stateful then I get this deployment error. I sort of understand from the tutorial that you need @Destroy @Remove if the bean is stateful. I didn't get that you couldn't have them if it wasn't.

I supposed (perhaps naively) that this type of error would be picked up at compile time.

Is there some kind of checker that can be run to look for this sort of thing?
