Use hibernate for persistence

We should create a hibernate persistence manager and state manager to
replace jdbc2/3

Why?

Exactly how many database tables are we talking about here?

To take advantage of hibernate's dialect processing, rather than
having horrible property files for each database - each with
different definitions of blobs/joins

messages
subscription messages
transactions
users
roles
durable subscriptions
