Multiple Instances, single jvm?

Good grief. Hope this is the right section to ask in.

We are currently running multiple instances of jboss on a single server, arranged somthing like /opt/jboss/server/inst1, /opt/jboss/server/inst2 and so on.

Does that mean each instance gets it's owm jvm? Is there a way to run multiple instances of jboss on a single machine, but still use a single JVM to save memory?

But to answer your question, you need a JVM per instance.
