Creating a number column with 30digits in Oracle

There is a precision and scale attribute to the @column annotation

Oops. Thats seems to be not working for int and long. I suppose it is a feature since there is no way the bean can handle the database record if it is not fitting into java data type size. Correct me if I am wrong.

But I wonder why I am not able to set the precision for Float data type also. Is it the same reason?

You might want to have a look at BigDecimal and BigNumber to handle large values instead of Integer ?

may be help you:

@Column(name="amount",nullable=false,columnDefinition="decimal(5,2)" )

This code set DB field amount to SQL type decimal(5,2).
You can test it with BigInteger...
