So here's an outline of the architecture being proposed. I'll put in text around the illustration as soon as possible.

A more up-to-date version of this document will be put on the JBoss Labs pages when I get a chance. But hopefully this will put a few things into perspective.

Ignore the term MOM: it's not meant to convey this type of definition, but simply a shorthand for messaging infrastructure: something that allows for the sending and receiving of messages, either in a reliable or unreliable manner. You could use a MOM for that, but in many cases it's probably too heavyweight. Think UDP if it helps.
