HowTo get process definition XML from process definition ins

What is the preferred way to obtain the process definition XML data from a process definition instance?

With jBPM 3.0.2, I used JpdlXmlWrite but that has been deprecated in jBPM 3.1 and no alternative mentioned.

Search the FINE (before people get wrong ideas) forum... besides, you can (not even in 3.0.2) get an xml version of a process INSTANCE. It was always the process definition the instance was created from.

It's deprecated in 3.1.x, but still there, and works (to a degree) for process definitions (not instances like kukeltje said)

Sorry, my semantics were incorrect but my question still remains: what is the alternative to retreive the XML from a process definition given that the JpldXmlWriter is deprecated?
