Can I deploy the jBPM in one JBoss domain (say all/minimal) and my application in another domain (say default) to talk with the jBPM?

I am planning to do this to avoid overloading my application server JVM.

I do not fully understand what you mean, but if you ask wether jbpm can be talked to from other JBoss instances than the one jBPM (i.e the console and/or the database) is running on than the answer is definitely yes.
