    Human Task Example

    gllambi

Hi! Does the Human Task example of the latest bpel version (1.1.1) has any relationship with the arrising BPEL extensions for human task: BPEL4People and Human Task?

      Thanks!

Not really. The example is meant to show how to populate a task list written against the jBPM 3 task API from a BPEL process.

We have plans to implement the WS-HumanTask interfaces in the PVM task component. The Orchestra team, who are building a BPEL implementation on top of PVM, also plan to implement BPEL4People. No such plans exist for jBPM 3, tough.

Thank you very much for the answer! Although, some other doubts came to my mind with it :)

Maybe this is a very basic question but, what's the relationship between the PVM and jbpm-bpel nowadays? If in the future I want to use WS-HumanTasks I've got to stop using jbpm-bpel and use the PVM?

            Thanks again!

jBPM BPEL 1.x and jBPM jPDL 3.x are built on a common process object model which is also part of jbpm-jpdl.jar.

jPDL 4 and Nova Orchestra are built on the PVM, which is now separate from the jPDL 4 classes.

Indeed, at some point jBPM BPEL users will have the option to migrate to Orchestra just like jPDL 3 users will be able to transition to jPDL 4. For BPEL users the migration path should be easier because WS-BPEL is a fixed standard.

That's a very interesting thing!! But if in the future I want to use JBoss and BPEL, you mean Orchestra will be the best option? What will happen with jBPM-BPEL? It won't be integrated with PVM?
