You could use a custom activity. Then you have access to an Execution which allows you to do what you want.

If you are talking about ExecutionContext and the methods getVariable and setVariable then what you should probably be using in v4 is the ExecutionService's getVariable/getVariables and setVariable/setVariables.

to get variable from executionService it needs exectuionid in jbpm4, where can i get that or is there any way to set exectionid so that i can use it in java task. to get the variables.
