New developer forum(s)

Hi!

Just wondering why the developer forum has a "Design of JBoss jBPM" subforum which I am using now. Will we have more than one subforum for development?

Another one could be "bugs"?

But is it really worth having multiple? If not .. maybe we should change the name of this forum..

it is not necessarilly a sub forum, and it is on the same level as the user forum. The thing is that all user forums are combined in one section

JBoss.com -> JBoss User -> JBoss jBPM

compared to

JBoss.com -> JBoss jBPM Developers Forums -> Design of JBoss jBPM

The names we have given to the forums follow the same pattern as the other projects. Some do indeed have multiple dev forums (look at AS) some have just one like us (Portal, IDE).

Bugs is nice, but in the jbpm dev part or as with the users combined with other projects on a higher level.

JBoss.com -> JBoss jBPM Developers Forums -> jBPM bugs

or

JBoss.com -> JBoss bugs -> JBoss jBPM
where we can move threads from the dev/user to bugs. otoh, I do not think it is that usefull. If I get moderator rights, I can always change the subject of an initial message in a thread from "subject" to "[bug] subject" or for enhancements into "[rfe] subject". They do that at myeclipse and I kind of like it.

Multiple dev forums? I was in favour of a general one and multiple specific ones (gpd, web, db?) but since these dev forums are more hidden now (the link on the jboss homepage goes to the user forum, huray) posts will probably in most cases go to the right forum and the dev forum will only be used by developers on jbpm

there will only be one dev forum. the name is indeed a bit strange.

i just tried to comply as much as possible with the jboss naming scheme.

it serves the purpose of have the least possible user questions on the dev forum.

bugs should be reported in jira, i think. people report bugs in all forums. they start as user questions or as dev remarks... so a separate bug forum is not desirable, i think.

Oh, yes, bugs should be in the jira, but if there is a thread which eventually is about a bug, it is not bad to mark it as such, but indeed as mentioned there should not be a bug forum.
