SMTP configuration

Hi, I'm trying to configure the mail.smtp properties but I'm unable to see any change. I've tried to chamge the configure file in the source path but nothin seems happens. I've read that I have to change the configuration file in the web-console .war archive but i cannot find it. Any help?
