and you can find a good example in order to estimate the infraestructure (hardware / software) you need for real portal solution.

So, where i can find any documentation about recomendations of perfomance and sizing for JBoss Portal?,

I'm evaluating for a company, three solutions wiht high Availability (1) JBoss Portal (2) Oracle Portal (3) Bea Weblogic Portal

In Oracle i can see we need the medium size company recomendation.

All we have is the minimum configuration we suggest: (http://docs.jboss.org/jbportal/v2.2/user-guide/en/html/supportedversions.html). The Portal framework's resource utilization is obviously dependent on the portlets that are deployed on it.

I still don't know who this BEA guy is. Anyway, I do not have any load test data at my disposal in clustered mode, as it was recently introduced to the CMS component.

The last load test benchmark we ran was in the 2.0 days. However, I am not allowed to publicly post the results as they were performed by a partner and [legal bla bla poop]. Anyway, here is what I can share:

Dell
Optiplex GX280, OES (SLES 9)
P4 3GHz, 1GB RAM, 80GB Hard Disk

For up to
700 users connecting over a 60 second period, JBoss had response times of under 7seconds. Even with 1000
users connecting over a 60 second period, JBoss had a response time of approximately
half of that of [other portal] (34 and 73 seconds, respectively). Also, for that load test, only 37
of the 1000 users failed to connect to the JBoss portal while 580 of the 1000 users failed
to connect to [other portal].

I am sorry, I cannot share more of what we have.

My honest/unfiltered recommendation is to not trust these results and evaluate on:

- is it standards-based, or will lead to vendor lock-in? The pain and agony will set in when you have to renew your contract and sign over that bigfat check every year, and you're too locked in to proprietary "features" to move at all. (JBoss Portal is free, btw) ;-)
- features. Is there something one vendor has, that the other doesn't.
- Support? At JBoss, the developers themselves will be answering your support questions and, optionally, training your developers/admins.
- Price! Unless you're working for Google, I'm sure price is a big determining factor. Hardware is cheap, but per-cpu licensing for most of our competitors is surely not!
