Which "spec"? I'm an ol' assembler/FORTRAN/C/C++/Oracle programmer from "way back when". I need to do some homework...
Note: I asked this same question on the portal design forum; please ignore. I see based on your sig that you're "in the know"! -

In checking (I found a thread started by someone else), it looks like JSR 268 is really what I'm looking for. I'm obviously no expert, but it sounds like JSR 168 was a good starting-point, but never really provided everything that was arguably required to really provide a good foundation. Here's one thread I found for JSR-268: http://www.cmswatch.com/Trends/705-Follow-on-to-JSR-168
Thanks, BTW. It looks like the forums here are very active! -
5. Re: Portlets work with both JBoss & Oracle Portal?
theute Oct 4, 2006 8:32 AM (in response to perucci)JSR 168 is the actual spec implemented in JBoss portal and all the other spec-compliant porlets containers
JSR 286 is only the next version of the spec and it is work in progress and then not implemented by any company
BTW Julien (JBoss portal lead) sits in the JSR 286 expert group
