We try our best to make it worse but it takes a lot of time to break all the architecture we wrote.
You should have a look at Portal 2.6, we succesfully broke almost everything. The theme look even worse, we hired a child to do it.
If you have ideas on how to break it even more in 3.0, please let us know ! -

Apparently, my post kind of annoys more than it gets the point across.
Apologies for that. About the comment on the portal. I felt terrible when my client said that to me. Nobody likes their users scoffing at them. Through my post I only want to point out why I got disappointed with the portal. :)
Oh, and yes. Children have very vivid imagination. I do have ideas and I'll try putting together a comprehensive list of how you could improve upon the portal instead of sending another "constructive" post next time. :)
Regards,

But really, JBoss Portal is a framework for portals, it has to suit most or all cases, but it can't fit them all out of the box.
There is and there will always have work for integrators to tailor the framework to something that suits the clients/users.
I personally like the latest theme (renaissance) made by a web designer. But i can't imagine someonte going in production with a default theme that may look like the competitor's theme. So our value is not the embedded themes but the fact that you can create your own and apply it, to say, pages or a whole portal.
That said, we are open for suggestions and contributions.
