1. Re: Chanhes Made Though the Admin Console is not reflecting
peterj Oct 4, 2007 11:46 AM (in response to shanportal)Which admin console are you referring to, the web console (access via http://localhost:8080/web-console)? If so, such changes are not persisted. To make persistent changes you must edit the xml files directly.

shanportal Oct 4, 2007 3:34 PM (in response to shanportal)Hi Peter
Thanks for your response.
I am using oracle 10.g database. I was adding some portlet instance in my created page. However once I place the porlet instance on the page it displays the content. After restating the server the portlet instance i placed on the page is not appearing. I need to place the portlet instance again. I do not know why these values are getting persisited in the database, if it could be persisited then it would be availabe after the jboss server restart.
Any help is appriciated.
Thanks

peterj Oct 4, 2007 3:51 PM (in response to shanportal)Try setting the Hibernate dialect specifically to Oracle in the files jboss-portal.sar/conf/hibernate/*/hibernate.cfg.xml.

I have added the following property in the following files.<property name="dialect">org.hibernate.dialect.Oracle9Dialect</property>
..\deploy\jboss-portal.sar\conf\hibernate\instance\hibernate.cfg.xml
..\deploy\jboss-portal.sar\conf\hibernate\portal\hibernate.cfg.xml
..\deploy\jboss-portal.sar\conf\hibernate\portlet\hibernate.cfg.xml
..\deploy\jboss-portal.sar\conf\hibernate\user\hibernate.cfg.xml
Still I have the same problem. Is there any other setting I need to do.

7. Re: Chanhes Made Though the Admin Console is not reflecting
peterj Oct 5, 2007 10:39 AM (in response to shanportal)Please post the *-ds.xml file you are using for Oracle.
From my Oracle days, I recall that it included some tools to monitor or log SQL calls. Could you turn those on to see what activity, if any, there is when you use the Management Portlet to add a portlet to that page. -

What did the SQL log tell you? -
10. Re: Chanhes Made Though the Admin Console is not reflecting
peterj Oct 8, 2007 5:04 PM (in response to shanportal)Oh, and one more thing. Have you made any changes that persisted through a restart. Or do you lose all of your changes when you restart?

11. Re: Chanhes Made Though the Admin Console is not reflecting
shanportal Oct 9, 2007 9:43 AM (in response to shanportal)Hi Peter,
I enabled the parameter true in hibernate.cfg.xml files<property name="show_sql">true</property>
When I add the portlet in a page using the admin console,
the values are getting into the database table JBP_OBJECT_NODE. I am able to see the values in the database after the Jboss Server Shutdown
I have the portal-object.xml. Which does not have the any definition to the portlet instance i have added through the admin console. So while restarting the jboss server the values are over ridden during the restart.
Is there a way we could set any setting which could prevent reloading of portal-object.xml. during the restart.
You help is highly appriciated. Thanks in advance

12. Re: Chanhes Made Though the Admin Console is not reflecting
peterj Oct 9, 2007 2:04 PM (in response to shanportal)Do you have the if-exists tag in your portal-object.xml file:
<deployments> <deployment> <if-exists>keep</if-exists>
Make sure if-exists is set to "keep" and not "overwrite". -
