mhinten Jan 2, 2008 10:50 AM (in response to mhinten)Thank you Thomas. And my apologies for overlooking this in de documentation.
I Guess that "Inter Portlet" communication (with a space between inter and portlet) was the one search string I did not try yet. Thanks again. I will give it a try and report back wether I succeeded or not. -
3. Re: What happened to IPC support in JBoss Portal 2.6.3?
shilpak Jan 3, 2008 8:00 AM (in response to mhinten)HI,
I have a page which has 3 portlets. I am using Jboss portal 2.6.3. I want to communicate with 3 portlets. I mean I want to click on one link in portlet A, and the contents of portlet B and Portlet C should change accordingly. I know to send parameters by using PortalNodeEventListener and node.dissolve method. But i can communicate only with one portlet and not more than one. Could you please help me how to achive this?
Thanks in advance

Well... The documentation for v2.2 states that this is not possible:
http://docs.jboss.org/jbportal/v2.2/reference-guide/en/html/ipc.html
But I am facing the same problem. When (and if) I find a solution, I will post it here.
For the record: communication between 2 portlets is working now. -

claprun Jan 3, 2008 12:02 PM (in response to mhinten)Any particular reason you are still using Portal 2.2 when 2.6.3 is available?

I did not phrase well: I am using portal 2.6.3, but the documentation of 2.6.3 doesn't include the "it is not possible to have many-to-one IPC", whereas the 2.2 documentation does....
So: I am using Portal 2.6.3, but read the warning in an older version of the docs. And indeed it still seems not possible to have many-to-one IPC out of the box in 2.6.3. So why did the jboss folks remove the warning from the docs? You will get an exception thrown if you try 1:m IPC. -

Not sure why either indeed. I suspect this got lost when the old IPC page got merged in the new Portal API chapter... but this needs to be checked. -

Have you tried and failed? Or just asking? I don't see any reasons why it wouldn't work as the IPC technology is independent of the portlet implementation... -

Well, just to close my contribution to this thread: I got IPC working, but only 1-on-1. I mean that I did not succeed to get multi-IPc working. Indeed, the documentation states that this is not possible. Too bad.
I will have a look at http://www.doc.ic.ac.uk/~mo197/portlets/portlet_messaging/

11. Multi IPC via PortletSession working.
mhinten Jan 8, 2008 7:20 AM (in response to mhinten)Ok, Multi IPC via listeners will not work. But I have it working via the PortletSession.
Let's hope jsr 286 will be here soon....
