Selection of a row in a datatable

It is very important for us to select a row in a datatable; how is this possible?? We like to avoid the use the scrollable datatable.
Any workaround?

forgive me if I misunderstand your question, but if you want to know which row has been selected there is many ways to get that information, eg. by rowId attribute, or requestMap ....

the question is for me: is the datatable selectable or not and if yes how can I select the datatable; I cannot find any atribute for that (like in the scrollable datatable component).

any solution is highly appreciated.

In my knowledge, data table rows aren't selectable.

But you can do similar action with rows, eg. onClick atribute or add column h:selectBooleanCheckbox to h:dataTable indicating whether user has selected this row or not.

I don't know any better solution to your problem.

refer to richfaces doc
and have a look at <rich:contextMenu> examples
u will see an example about getting table selection
i used it and it work fine for me
its better than use radiobutton or checkbox
..........

If you use binding to the data table you can get the clicked row with getRowData()

thanks and how could we get a row selected? I mean visually that the use can see a row is selected, any tested workaround?
