    Localization in layout index.jsp

    mohitmutha

I am trying to access the user locale in the index.jsp of my custom layout. The locale is always coming as en though it is set to de in the user profile. It however appears correctly in all other places (portlets / header.jsp etc.)

      Any pointers ?

          Any comments/suggestions on this ?

          Is this a bug ?

If not in that case I am interested to know what is the recommendation for handling localized strings in layout jsps.

Can anyone please confirm if this is a bug or is by design ?

If it is by design what is the right way to localize strings (like copyright) to be used in a layout ?

              I've just added that possibility.
It will be part of 2.6.6.

By the way we are doing a lot of i18n at the moment. If you know any other language than French, English and Russian, you can help us a lot for localization !

              Thanks !

                Hi Thomas,

                Thanks for the clarification.

I as such don't know any language other than English and Indian languages like Hindi/Bengali.

However, I've vast experience in developing internationalized applications for asian market (localized in Japanese, Korean etc.). So if you need in help in i18n piece please let me know.
