How are we packaging deployers in JBoss 5? Are we continueing with the foo.deployer packaging?

No. Everything in JBoss5 can be a jar (or even a directory without
extension if it has a META-INF folder).

e.g. a sar
my.jar/META-INF/jboss-service.xml

This is because of the aspect nature of the deployers.
