1. Re: JBAS-4199, default memory settings
weston.price Mar 12, 2007 6:00 PM (in response to starksm64)I agree. What about
-Xms512 -Xmx768
Ironically enough, the proposed settings are less than ideal for a majority for the equipment being used currently in house. Of course, these can always be changed if the hardware supports this, so I am not sure the point of setting these in the repository version if they won't by default, work on a lot of machines. -

jason.greene Mar 12, 2007 6:49 PM (in response to starksm64)I always liked mysql's solution, which is to make a different config that is a generic server size:
So something like:
jboss-small.conf
jboss-medium.conf
jboss-large.conf

anil.saldhana Mar 12, 2007 6:58 PM (in response to starksm64)anything that is larger than the current 256m is better. There are small shop production instances that run on default config provided with JBoss.

bill.burke Mar 13, 2007 8:59 AM (in response to starksm64)sad, a full testsuite run used to run in the default JVM settings.

starksm64 Mar 13, 2007 12:25 PM (in response to starksm64)A full testsuite run used to be 300 tests without significant bytecode/proxy generation.

Its been requested to crank up the server default memory settings:
-Xms512m -Xmx1024m -Dsun.rmi.dgc.client.gcInterval=3600000 -
Dsun.rmi.dgc.server.gcInterval=3600000 -XX:PermSize=256m
-XX:MaxPermSize=512m
These seem a bit high for defaults. What do you think?
The default now is: -Xms128m -Xmx512m
We should really be looking at changing the max settings, not the minimum ones, because they must be generic enough to accomodate for most out of the box configs. -

anil.saldhana Mar 13, 2007 1:33 PM (in response to starksm64)Why not JDK5+ ergonomics and choose a throughput goal?
