timfox Jun 20, 2009 3:54 AM (in response to jbmuser)In JBM 2.0 messages are paged to disk _before_ they are routed in the postoffice, i.e. paging is a stage before routing.
Therefore any messages that are paged to disk are not in any queues yet. That's why you don't see them on the queue message count.
Perhaps we should add a messageCount attribute on the address? That would tell you how many messages are paged for a particular destination address.
If you are interested in us adding this functionality, please feel free to add a JIRA. -

Is it possible to provide an ETA for this feature?
Thanks

clebert.suconic Jun 30, 2009 9:30 PM (in response to jbmuser)BTW, we don't know how many messages are stored at the paging system. We could easily find how many files, or how many bytes are stored.. but not the number of messages.
We could have a counter at Address level, but as soon as we restart the system we would need to read all the page files to re-establish those counters. -

jbmuser Jul 10, 2009 12:45 AM (in response to jbmuser)Hi Clebert,
Is it possible to implement your option 2 - "We could have a counter at Address level, but as soon as we restart the system we would need to read all the page files to re-establish those counters. ".
This feature is important in my project (I guess for any project) as our support team need to know the number of unconsumed messages in a queue in order to debug day to day issues.
Thanks

timfox Jul 10, 2009 3:03 AM (in response to jbmuser)There are other ways we could implement this, e.g. we could store a record in the bindings journal which has the count, and checkpoint this every X records paged and at shutdown.

jbmuser Jul 17, 2009 8:22 AM (in response to jbmuser)Hi Tim,
Can we expect this feature in next release? We are eagerly waiting here for this. Or if you can point us to a workaround (if any) that would be great.
Thanks in advance
