could not get id of: org.jboss.seam.framework.Home.instance

Does anyone have an idea why I am getting this error?

I am experimenting with the new framework classes in the 1.1.0.CR release.

This only happens when my entities have validation errors.

Validation errors in the UI (s:validate), or from Hibernate?

I am using <s:validateAll> and the hibernate annotations.

And it only happens when creating a new entity. not on update.

I'm probably going to need you to create a small runnable test that I can use to reproduce this.

OK. I have a simple test app that reproduces the error. I can send it to you.

One thing of note it that I am using portlets, but that shouldn't make a difference.

Seam was swallowing the real exception, which was from Hibernate Validator. This is now fixed in CVS.

You should be using required=true on your JSF fields.
