Obtaining user's host information

Is there a way I can retrieve user's host information (i.e. IP address, browser's version, etc...) before or after the authentication?

Something like

HttpServletRequest r = (HttpServletRequest) FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getRequest();
log(r.getRemoteHost());

? You should also be able to look at the request headers etc. from there.
