tomahawk also uses prototype.js and if you uses some old versions of tomahawk - older prototype could conflict with newest one bundled with RichFaces. And you have two options there
1) patch tomahawk with the latest prototype used in RF
2) update tomahawk to the latest version with needed prototype js.
Also this could appears if you use some other thirdparties which bundles this js of different version. -

trinidad 1.2.8 can affect same problem like tomahawk you say
