Is JBossESB an own server or an add-on of JBoss AppServer?

If I install JBossESB is this ALWAYS a separate server?
Or is it always a part of an existing JBossAS?

You can choose if you want to deploy JBossESB to an existing JBossAS server or if you want to run it in a separate slimmed down version(jbossesb-server). The slimmed down version does not have such things like ejb3 support and other services that are not required by JBossESB.
