grouping in rich:extendeddatatable

I have a eich:extended data table with pagination.
When i am doing group by a column, gouping is doing correct for only in the current grid page. Is it possible to do grouping in all the pages by some tricks or by writting code?

map tableState to some object in session scoped bean as it done at richfaces-demo. Then grouping will be restored after pagination.

actually my question was..suppose i have 3 data in first page and 2 data in second page for a perticular group..but when i do grouping i want to see all the 5 data should come under that group for that page..

unfortunatelly seems no way for that - extendedDataTable outputs count of rows according to rows attribute without difference if grouping present or not.

And not sure that such change reasonable at all. Because if the developer needs to output table with rows="10" it's usually because of layout requirements and if we will output 20 rows just because grouping present - it could broke the layout.

hmm..so grouping is only working on the current page of that grid...but for a user point of view if he gouped by a coumn , so he wants all the data related to that group should come under that grouped tag...

do you mean that when you switching page with datascroller - it lost? then my first comment should be considered.

what i want to mean ..when i do gouping by a column..all the data from all the pages related to that group should come together in a single place..on depends on only the page lavel data

We are having the same issue.

The 'group by' feature only groups the data on the same page. Is there a solution for this? This feature is causing a lot of confusion because it implies that you would be able to see the total number of rows with a certain column value in the summary but really it is only the number of rows with that value on the current page.
