thanks for the response.I have downloaded richfaces 3.3.3 beta1 and the issue was resolved.
i have couple of problems now.
1) After deploying the war file initially when the login page displays am getting javascript error when i debuged in firebug it says
Error: syntax error

2) How can set the length of the text input for rich:comboBox as i have restrict the user input to 32 characters
and also how can i set the width of the items list for the rich:comboBox or can it be made auto as per the data in the list.Since the data is not consistent in the database.
please suggest
