rich:dataTable,dataList rowIndexVar/rowCountVar

Why do rich:dataTable and dataList  not have rowIndexVar/rowCountVar attributes?

<t:dataList> and <t:dataTable> has them.  Is rowKey for this purpose?

we do not have rowCountVar but yes rowKeyVar could be used like rowIndexVar if you do not redefined the rowKey's with some custom objects.

I need to pass the row in the rich:dataTable as the value in a4j:mediaOutput.

I've tried rowKeyVar but it's just null. Any suggestions?
