    Question about RichFaces development

    eurokey

      Hello,

first let me say I'm a big fan of RichFaces. It think it is the best available JSF 1.2 library out there. But here is the problem. My Company decided to develop full JEE 6 Applications, of course this includs the use of JSF 2.0.

So i need to know a few things.

      1. Are you still working on RichFaces 3.3.3. or do you now focus on RichFaces 4 development?
      2. When (I realy don't ask for an exact date) will there be the RichFaces 4 Alpha 2?
      3. When will there be a full RichFaces 4 Version? (months? half year? full year? 2 years?)

I know that RichFaces 3.3.3 has JSF 2.0 Support but the limitation to old Facelets is a direct showstopper for me as this limitation makes it impossible to use RichFaces with other JSF 2.0 libraries. (Because the all depend on the build in JSF 2.0 Facelets)

Thanks, and I understand wanting to jump into the EE6 environment.  There are a lot of great features, both in the UI and backend.

We have 1-2 development people working on finishing 3.3.3.  We hope to have this out next week.  The rest of the team are working full time on 4.0 development.

We are hoping to get Alpha2 out early-mid May, but once that is out we will have regular time-box'ed milestone releases until we release.

We plan on having 4.0 in Final release in late summer early spring.  Although once we start with the milestone releases I would consider the release ready for initial development until the Final release.

Correct, the JSF 2.0 support in 3.3.3.F is meant for running existing applications in a JSF 2.0 environment.  Please take a look here at a blog I posted on the subject -  http://in.relation.to/Bloggers/JSF20RoadmapForRichFaces
