Improving Apache Web Server's Performance !!

Dear all,

        We are having a clustered environment with multiple JBoss Server Instances .

These server instances / nodes are load-balanced and configured for failover by the Apache Web Server 2.2.15 and MOD_JK module.

In this scenario, how can we improve the Apache Web Server's performance ( like , Caching OR any other feature !! ) ??

I suggest to tune up  this parameters

this is for prefork MPM

<IfModule mpm_prefork_module>

    StartServers          5

    MinSpareServers       5

    MaxSpareServers      10

    MaxClients          150

    MaxRequestsPerChild   0

</IfModule>

this is for Worker MPM

<IfModule mpm_worker_module>

    StartServers          2

    MaxClients          150

    MinSpareThreads      25

    MaxSpareThreads      75

    ThreadsPerChild      25

    MaxRequestsPerChild   0

</IfModule>

You should also setup http KeepAlive stuff accordingly.

Hi.

It strictly depends on your frontend/backend environment and/or number of concurrent users.

Apache is a great flexible piece of sw and let you set it up the way you need.

Please check the apache manual for more references and details.
