EAR deployment issue

Why wouldn't ear files deploy in JBoss ESB 4.8? does anyone know?

My ear file deploys fine in JBoss AS5.1 but not in the ESB 4.8 .

The ESB does not support EJB of of the box.
You have to bundle it with an AS. Take a look at http://docs.jboss.org/jbossesb/docs/4.8/manuals/html/GettingStarted.html to see how.
