1. Re: how to add php to jboss(3.2.8)
ozizka Jan 17, 2012 1:16 AM (in response to d.udaykiranreddy)Are you really interested in JBoss Application Server released 2007-09-13 ?
Anyway, JBoss AS is mainly implementation of Java EE. PHP is a scripting language, usually running on Apache. Unless you mean using JBoss with Quercus, PHP implementation in Java (which is 4x faster than actual PHP btw).

peterj Jan 17, 2012 10:09 AM (in response to d.udaykiranreddy)Search these forums for PHP, there are several prior discussions on this. Here are some of them:
http://community.jboss.org/thread/80067
http://community.jboss.org/thread/141665
http://community.jboss.org/message/248194

I don't know if the JBoss Native solution will work for AS 3.2.8. You would, at the minimum, have to add the java.library.path setting to the JBoss AS run script.

5. Re: how to add php to jboss(3.2.8)
peterj Jan 18, 2012 12:25 PM (in response to d.udaykiranreddy)1 of 1 people found this helpfulYou do not need the native drivers to run PHP. All that you need is the PHP Module, which you can download from http://www.jboss.org/jbossweb/downloads/php.
What do you mean by "backend art is designed in php"? Art is typicially graphic images which are static. Even if a PHP app is used to generate the art, the resulting images should be static, such as .png or .jpg files. Or do you mean somethign else?

6. Re: how to add php to jboss(3.2.8)
ozizka Jan 18, 2012 12:39 PM (in response to peterj)All code written in PHP is kind of art, no doubt
However I think he mistyped "part".

7. Re: how to add php to jboss(3.2.8)
peterj Jan 18, 2012 1:02 PM (in response to ozizka)Ok, "backend part" makes more sense. Now the question becomes, what is meant by "backend". If it is merely a set of services (such as a REST API) that the Java code will be calling, then it might make more sense to simply deploy the PHP apps in Apache HTTPD and have the Java code call those services there. Only if the PHP code will render some of the web pages for the app (with other pages being rendered by Java) would I consider deploying the PHP code within JBoss AS.

ozizka Jan 23, 2012 4:29 PM (in response to d.udaykiranreddy)Wouldn't rewriting the php file into Java be easier than to set up PHP?

14. Re: how to add php to jboss(3.2.8)
peterj Jan 25, 2012 10:50 AM (in response to d.udaykiranreddy)Try this: http://www.jboss.org/jbossweb/modules/php.html
You don't have to build it - download the binaries instead (the "Already build PHP servlets and libraries" link)
You'll notice that the directions are for 4.2.x and 5.x. As i mentioned earlier, I haven't tried this on 3.2.8, so you are treading new ground.
