If it's the former than I'm not surprised that it doesn't get invoked.
I suspect that you really want @PreDestroy.

I was trying with the trunk (don't ask why, it's a long story... ) But I guess it was the same for 7.0.2.
Has been a busy day out here and tomorrow will be too.
I'll experiment with @PreDestroy and @Remove during the weekend and report back.
