Based on a standard. Easy to extend and plug in extensions. All the standard improvements that come with CDI.

In jest, I'll say that Seam 2 is a fully working stack whereas Seam 3 is mostly just a prototype right now :) (Though Weld is certainly complete).

The boon of Seam 3 is the standard and solid core that CDI provides and the upgraded Java EE platform which it targets. Beyond that, the benefit is anything you can dream of :)

As for security, you can expect much of the same comprehensive security module you found in Seam 2. In addition, we will be tying in the PicketLink project for federated, SSO security, finally!

For more specifics, let's wait for those blog entries to start rolling out! We'll create a page to track them all, so you can see what other people have to say about it :)

ease-of-use is important too.  Learning curve and ease-of-use are barriers to adoption...

Yes! Thank you! I completely agree. That's what we've got Lincoln for ;) hahaha j/k We'll all be focusing more on easy of use and good documentation as we lay down the Seam 3 tracks.
