3. Re: rich:calendar doesnt accept java.util.Calendar in Seam 2.0.1 GA
shiv Mar 13, 2008 12:59 PM (in response to shiv)No I dont. The design of the system was based on the claims of what Seam can do, How it works and Whats been fixed. To change the design just because something doesnt work as expected is definitely not a solution. Have got no answer on the RichFaces forum too.

shiv Mar 13, 2008 2:48 PM (in response to shiv)My profound apologies if my reply sounded offensive.
Its the R and D work we had to do so many times to figure out / solve something, which is hitting our productivity. In this case we already spent 2 days with the rich:calendar thingy.
Again, pls accept my apologies.

6. Re: rich:calendar doesnt accept java.util.Calendar in Seam 2.0.1 GA
keithnaas Mar 13, 2008 3:32 PM (in response to shiv)Shiv,
Have you tried using a java.util.Date just to see if things work? Siarhei was simply trying to suggest an alternative. if Dates worked instead of Calendars, then that means the RF bug likely hasn't been fixed yet. However, if Dates also didn't work, then something else is occurring.
As a last resort you can always use a Converter or add another getter/setter to the Person object to front the Calendar object with a Date.
Good luck,
Keith

shiv Mar 14, 2008 10:34 AM (in response to shiv)Hi Keith,
Thanks for the response. I did try using java.util.Date and it worked. Its a problem only when using java.util.Calendar.
Using the converter is a good tip. Will try that out. Thanks!

nano Jul 24, 2008 7:37 PM (in response to shiv)Hi, Shiv,
You can use this code:
<rich:calendar id="dob" value="#{person.dob.time}" popup="true" required="true" />
Good luck,

9. Re: rich:calendar doesnt accept java.util.Calendar in Seam 2.0.1 GA
ericjava.eric.chiralsoftware.net Jul 24, 2008 8:24 PM (in response to shiv)Yes, I always use it with Date.
Hint to the RF developers: it really should take an argument of type Long. java.util.Date is a strange class that probably shouldn't be used anymore.

Never thought of that solution!
I would give you star if I could. -

kongo09 Dec 2, 2010 10:10 AM (in response to shiv)2 and a half years on and still the same problem using Seam 2.2
But your advice of using calendar.time instead of calendar solves the issue well!
