HTMLCommandLink

I am using a a4j:HTMLCommandLink to cause the generation of a PDF. Is there a way to have oncomplete like functionality when using the HTMLCommandLink component?

Can you please clarify your requirements more? Browser can show download file dialog - when should this JS code be executed then?

I would like to show a "Generating PDF..." message when the use clicks the link. It could take 5-10 seconds to generate the PDF. I can add an onclick to show the message but I don't know when the ajax call finishes so I can't hide the message.

a4j:htmlCommandLink is not using ajax requests. So it has no oncomplete. Try to register document "ready" callback using jQuerry for example.
